I got married in the year 1964 with Sumitra Mazumder, who hails from Malda, West Bengal. I have one daughter and one son. My daughter, Jayati Mazumder is an M.S. in Bio-Chemistry. She is a "School Teacher" (PGT) in New Delhi. My son, Sudip Kr. Mazumder is Ph.d in Electrical Engineering. He is "Associate Professor" in Electrical Engineering at UIC, Chicago, U.S.A.

I passed my school final examination with 1^st division from Barisha Vivekananda School, Kolkata in 1953 and I.S.C. examination with 1^st division from Bangabashi College, Kolkata in 1955. I graduated in Civil Engineering 1^st class with 9^th rank in 1959 from B.E. College, Shibpur, Kolkata University (now Bengal Engineering and Science University, Kolkata). I obtained my M. Tech. in Dam & Water Power Engineering and Ph.d. in Civil Engineering (water resources) from IIT, Kharagpur in 1966 and 1970 respectively.

I was Assistant Engineer (Irrigation & Waterways Dte), Govt. of West Bengal, during 1959-62, a lecturer at IIT (Khargpur) during 1962-67, Assistant professor in Civil Engineering at REC. (now NIT), Durgapur during 1967-75 and Professor of Civil Engineering at Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi, during 1975-98. I was AICTE Emeritus Fellow during 1998-2000. During Feb-Nov 1991, I was a visiting professor at EPFL, Switzerland. I was Head of Civil Engg. and Dean of Technology, University of Delhi.

I joined M/s ICT Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, as General Manager (Hydrology & Drainage) in the year 2000. Currently, I am working as part-time consultant attached to M/s Aquagreen Engg. Mgt. Pvt. Ltd, M/s ICT Pvt. Ltd., ITL Pvt. Ltd. and SWI Pvt. Ltd. New Delhi.

I have published 130 technical papers and written one book. I edited one proceeding and contributed a chapter in a book by Kleuer publication. I contributed for an AICTE publication Engineering Education in Independent India, 1947-1997. I guided 25 M.E. and 3 Ph.d thesis. I got several awards for my technical papers from the Institution of Engineers (India), Indian Roads Congress (IRC). I was principal investigator of several research schemes sponsored by several Govt. & non-Govt. organizations.

I received life time achievement award from Indian Society for Hydraulics for my contribution in hydraulics and water resources engineering. I was Honorary Secretary of the Institution of Engineers (India), Durgapur Center and was elected two times as Executive Council Member of Indian Society of Hydraulics (ISH) during 2000-2004. I am Executive Council Member of Indian Water Resources Society (IWRS) for 2005-2007 &.2007-2010. I am Life Fellows of the Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), Indian Society for Hydraulics (ISH) and IWRS, Life Members of Indian Roads Congress (IRC) & Consultancy Development Center (CDC) and Members of NIH Society (Roorkee), Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), CBIP, BIS and International Association of Hydraulic Research (IAHR).

I have organized several workshops and conferences in water Resources and chaired many sessions in water resources at National and Inter-National levels. I am Hon. reviewer of several Journals of professional Societies e.g. IEI, IWRS, ISH, ASCE etc. I was selected two times by American Biographical Institute for inclusion of my name in their publication of distinguished leadership.
